Do a lot of african-american women wear wigs or have fake hair?
Don't want to offend anyone. Since I'm a white guy and don't know any black people (except for an uncle who's nigerian) I was sometimes wondering if black women somehow straighten their hair or if they wear wigs. I like curls, but I guess it's limiting for some women?

I’m not sure what’s exactly being said but I don’t like generalizations being made about black women and the whole weave/wig thing. I’ve never worn weave, and its not because I have what they call "good hair". I have decent hair and I take care of it. Most black women who wear weave, wear it by choice because they choose not to take care of their hair. Its quicker to do extensions, and easier, and they can make your hair grow. But I wouldn’t say most of us do, but that’s too much a generalization. And if you don’t know to look at or what you’re looking for you’re not going to know if its real or fake anyway, which is the point.

SOME black women may wear weave but it’s not any different from a white women wearing weave. Alot of white celebrities like paris hilton wear weave, alot of WOMEN wear weave period.
There is a big influx of African in Paisley Scotland where I live.They are only here five minutes before they put a silly looking wig on there head.They look ridiculous.Do they think by doing this they are becoming europeon.They are African and should be proud and not ashamed of themselves by trying to disguise themselves.How ludicrous is that.

I think the only explantion is they think there hair is like fur like a silverback and that by wearing a wig people wont notice.It is only making them look like those things in the Charleston Heston film Planet of the Apes
