How does the average African-American feel about his or her hair?

Because I notice the majority of African-American females are always trying make their hair look caucasian by getting extentions, wigs, straightening, etc. Instead of leaving their hair natural.

I am and african girl and currently have my natural hair. I love my hair dearly just like I love the rest of myself. I also love to have different hairstyles as it makes me feel good and I certainly can afford it. I have a lot of options like you have mentioned and I take great pleasure in using them. I do not "try to make my hair look caucasian" , I just make it look the way I want it to. You see, its all about me and what I want. After all, it is my hair.

So? Its their choice, not yours.

Not African American, but Black African straight from RSA in Africa…
I love my hair, especially after it’s been plaited for a long while and there’s all that growth. I comb it up and it looks like a real cute afro…
Extensions I dont mind…but they aren’t good for the hair line, so I’d rather braid my hair.
As for the straightening part, look I do understand coz at times it gets hard to comb, textures differ. Some may be able to put a comb through it, for others its difficult…lol
So I have to wash, moisturise and blow dry my hair so I can comb it…

Not only black females get extensions, nor are we the only ones buying wigs, lots of women with curly hair straighten their hair so why can’t black women do it??? Why dont’ all women leave their hair natural? because women like to change their looks
